Ibanez SW35 vs Hartke A35

i have an sw35 i traded for a trumpet.
its very loud at least i think so for a 35 watt amp. it has a co-ax speaker so it can reproduce many sounds. has a gain control and a +10db gain button for a lot of gain. has head phone jack, and line out, effects loop on back. tone wise its ok, its not bat AT ALL but there just isnt anything special there. I have played other amps with around the same wattage and this one is one of the loudest of them. depending on music you could gig with this. im about to be playing gigs with it in a rock cover band, though i will be using the line out to go into the PA.
never tried THAT hartke but i have tried a hartke before. if it follows its big brothers then it should sound good.
but i would go with the sw35. just because it kicks ass. but i might change my mind if i played that hartke

I tried a small Fender, Peavey and a Crate in the music store but for a practice amp I bought the Ibanez because even though its only 35 watts the cab is shapped to give you better tone then some of the other small amps ...I even use it on some gigs.
The Hartke A-35 was/is my choice....

the Hartke's XLR/DI is very useful for recording purposes, the Ibanez doesn't have one...
Also, tone of the Hartke is much better as the co-ax speaker of the Ibanez really isn't very good imho....

No experience with the Hartke...can't help there. I have an Ibby SW35 I bought for $60 in a pawn shop, and it was well worth that.
The Ibby is a decent amp; the RCA inputs for a CD player or iPod are handy for practice. I had to pretty much max out the bottom frequency adjustment on the EQ to give it a bassy sound that pleased me, but I WAS able to achieve that sound.
It's loud enough that I have played a very small venue with it - but only in an emergency and it wasn't enough amp to really do what needed to be done. It would be plenty for an acoustic gig where you were playing an ABG and needed just a bit of kick to keep up with multiple acoustic guitars.
A note: the Ibby combo weighs the same as my Genz-Benz Combo Shuttle 6.0 head with a T12 speaker, and that puts out 375W (into 8 ohms, 600W into 4 ohms) and will back you against the wall.

I bought this as my first amp. I love it, I want it back. loaned to a kid to play keyboard through. The tweeter is nice. It handles the B at 50% volume setting. I did an acoustic show once for about 18 people in a med. conference room. It is a gYou can try the Hartke if you'd like. I think you will get the Ibanez combo.

I can't compare the two, as I've never owned the Hartke, but I love the SW35. Great for rehearsals, home practice, small piano trio gigs. I've even used it as a vocal monitor running from the PA's Tape/CD out to the CD in on the SW35. I was so impressed with it I went out and bought the SW100 and 115 extension. I'm kind of over those now (size and weight being the 2 biggest issues) but I'm holding onto the SW35 for awhile.
