Ibanez tone

Hello TBers,

Researching new basses (5 or 6 string, haven't decided yet,) saw this clip:

of someone SHREDDING YYZ, and I absolutely love the tone, on a $600 bass, no less!! The problem is I'm a lefty and this bass is not available lefty. That's about the most I can spend, so my question is, what would get me closer to this tone - Schecter Stiletto Custom 5/6 or Brice HXB 5/6 with a good setup and Bartolini electronics? or would either even be close? or should I look elsewhere entirely?

Thanks for any advice. I've been lurking for a while and the combined knowledge, experience and judgment of the members of this board is quite amazing. I've been playing bass for around 20 years but sadly, being poor and lefty, on only one bass, a modded old Roadstar II, my first bass purchased around 1984. So I really have no knowledge of brands, tones, equipment, etc. I know what I like, but I don't know what that translates into equipment-wise, if that makes sense. I just know I really like the tone of that Ibanez!

Thoughts?

It's an SR506. I'm not 100% sure that they don't make it lefty, but according to some members of the Ibanez forum, they have almost no options for lefties. They listed some other models I wasn't interested in, and SR505, 506 were not there. I'd love to be wrong - if anyone knows of a lefty SR506, please let me know.

Ibanez really sucks at supporting leftys. Great clip though. I think Geddy uses a Sansamp RBI

Yeah, that's the Brice neck-through. I've read (here) that they're quite good for that price, I'm just not liking the color at all, and that's the only color available. I like the look of the HXB a bit more, but I still don't have any idea what kind of tone they have.

Yes you did, sorry.

But here are the specs for an SR506

5pc Wenge/ Bubinga Neck
Mahogany Body
Rosewood Finger Board

Bartolini MK1-6 Neck PU
Bartolini MK1-6 Bridge PU
Bartolini MK1 3-Band EQ

A bass with a similiar combination of wood and electronics should sound similiar.

If I were you, that's what I'd look for.
