Ibanez tubescreamer for bass??...does it exist?

I am actually breadboarding a Tuberscreamer style overdrive voiced for bass right now. It's going to be a sort of combination of a fulltone bassdrive and VDL sparkledrive with some various mods. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to use the Sparkledrive method of clean blend or another blend circuit that keeps the output section more true to a TS9. I'm going to try both and see which one I like better. My goal is to make the most high quality and versatile TS9 style bass overdrive I would ever need.

Anyway, once I'm done I will post clips, and if there is enough interest I might be willing to do a SMALL production run.

The Tube King is still in production - TK999 on Ibanez site

and the best TS versions for bass are either the TS9DX or the TS808HWB

Are you replying to the OP or to my comment? My design is nothing like a Jacques Tubeblower. It's a lot closer to a Keeley modded Sparkledrive if anything.

I've never liked the TS9DX. For some reason it doesn't sound quite as good as a regular TS9 in normal mode. Then, for the bass boosted modes Ibanez choose to cut corners and use electrolytic caps, which sound rather harsh, and also for some reason they added extra diodes to the clipping section. It will give you a lot more low end than a normal TS9, but I would much prefer a normal TS9 modded for bass than the TS9DX.

I went through an OD frenzy a few years back - and the best of the TS variations in my mind was the MI Audio Blue Boy Deluxe.

Bear in mind, it is voiced for guitar, rather than bass - but the flexibility in the circuit, and the ability to get a great fat OD tone made it the best choice for me over about 6 other pedals.

The Ibanez Bass tube screamer TS9B was one of the first few pedals I bought early in the year as recommended by the local dealer in Singapore. I did not check the web for a demo and have no idea how a bass overdrive sounds like. The one I bought was actually defective without my knowing! The drive is not working and when dialed clockwise, it only increases the volume and I thought it is meant to be such, and is more like a EQ pedal that boast the low end. I realised later when I saw the youtube demo by Ibanez, that something was wrong. Brought it back to the store and they exchanged a new one with me that works. So, a word of caution to newbies like myself who are looking for OD pedals. And I would expect an establishment like Ibanez to have better QC before shipping their stuff, especially new product.

I have a ibanez ts9b. This is exactly the same as the guitar version but has a blend nob which you can use to decide how much clean signal comes through as well as a treble and bass tone nob. I think it's a good pedal, pretty expensive though and if you look around you can probably find something that has a very similar sound for less. Don't know how it compares to the original ts9.
