Black tea (Twinings English Breakfast or equivalent) steeped in 186 degree distilled water for three minutes. I only use three bags for about 1.5 liters of water. Let it cool in the tempered glass carafe and refrigerate. I drink it cold unsweetened year round all day, but in winter I heat it in a mug in the morning and add a little dark brown sugar and milk, before facing the damp cold of New England Winter.
I also enjoy fruit tisane (the term for hot steeped drinks not made from camellia sirensis). Celestial Seasonings Black Cherry and Twinings Peach & Orange are favorites, but I like trying different ones. I add a small amount of white powder or honey sometimes.
I gave up coffee due to afib. I always liked light or medium roast Kenyan, or the equivalent. Brewed in a French press, milk and dark brown sugar. I miss it, but it’s too intense, too much caffeine at once. I can’t drink hard liquor anymore either (no more Sazerac rye) but I still enjoy an occasional beer.
