ID this bass and tone

Hi all,

I'm posting this on behalf of my bro. He is a lead bass player who likes the the tone of players like Stanley Clarke and the late Wayman Tisdale. Can you help him by telling how to get a tone like this, and what brand of bass this guy is playing? The bass player in the video is Julian Vaughn.

I think he's getting this tone by using tenor strings, using a certain percussive attack with his plucking hand, EQ settings, and biasing the bridge pickup.

He plays an Ibanez at times too. This bass obviously isn't an Ibanez, though. Carvin, huh? Ideas on which model? How is he getting this tone?

It sounds like he's got it set up as a piccolo bass. And it look s like it could be a Carvin Bunny Brunel model, which can e ordered as piccolo basses according to this page:

Looks like a Carvin LB75. Couldn't tell you about the tone. He's using a Gallien Krueger amp and effects pedals.

Definitely a piccolo bass. I'd say that's the biggest factor in the sound that your bro is looking for.

I'd say he has an extremely low action, thus the percussive sound when he plucks. Fresh roundwounds and an auto wah effect. Lows rolled off.
