Greetings Talkbass brethren, a friend of mine is looking at selling this Yamaha 5 string but there's no model number just a serial #. Can any of you figure out the model and justify if it's worth the £350 asking price? My internet searches have turned up fruitless. Regards AJ PS - serial # is - QJX079054
I can tell you that it is of the BB line. It looks very much like the BB405 except that model only has 3 knobs. So it is something similar.
It looks like a mix between http://usa.yamaha.com/products/musi...product_lineup&page=2&mode=paging&list=within and http://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical-instruments/guitars-basses/el-basses/bb/bb2005/?mode=model

It's a BB605! The 5th pot is a parametric mid boost, enabled by the switch It's been my first bass and I'd definitely recommend it!
I played that bass - a BB605 - for a long time. I did replace the electronics with Bart jazz pups and a Bart preamp, but it was a very light, great playing bass. Lots of people still call it my best bass. I think my current Roscoes are better, but for the cost ($400 plus $250 to get the electronics in, it had a lot of bang for the buck.
Definitely worth the £350 then,? If you don't mind me asking lucam, if you bought it brand new how much was it?
Seems to be a BBN 605 Nathan East. http://www.instrumentguide.com/basses/yamaha/bb605 nathan east 5-string/
