Dude, no offense, but there are millions of bassists out here who have managed to string their instruments for decades without a standardized guide or returning hundreds of dollars of strings ordered in error. Maybe the strings are not the problem here?
And frankly, I'm not going to. Our Medium Scale strings are 35.5" winding length. Our Universal Long Scale strings are 37.25" winding length. So on and so forth...
That is PLENTY of information for the player to make a decision and ensure that it fits on their instrument. I don't have to tell you that every string in every set is that length, for reasons I already stated.
Questions on fitment for specific instruments are always allowed, as the bass guitar is not nearly as uniform and regulated as the electric guitar is - and don't get me started on builders that make an instrument with a weird winding length and have customers mad at ME because our strings don't fit - but other than that? Sadly, no.
That's unfortunate, but is squarely on the local supplier. At least they contacted you again and mentioned that they did it incorrectly, to save you the hassle of returning the strings.
You know what is unfortunate, that I for some reason, that I cannot understand, I am unable to find the winding lengths of strings unless I track them down and measure them. You're telling me it's plenty of information to get the length of one string. Well then please explain this, this is how my nightmare began, I bought a set of Labella 760FGS gold flats and I was told they were 36.5" or maybe 37" either would have been OK but the seller suggested I go to the labella website and find out for myself. This is after I had already purchased them, they are yet to arrive, they are for my cort A4.
So I went to the LaBella website and it was in fact 36.75", so that sounds good eh? Problem was that was only for the E, the G is 38" and it will wrap around the peg, a few times. At least Labella have that information, now you might say 'dude, they will still work', get over it.

La Bella Bass Strings:
- Short Scale = 32" Ball to Silk
- Medium Scale = 34" Ball to Silk
- Long Scale = 37" Ball to Silk
- Extra Long Scale = 38" Ball to Silk
- Hofner Beatle Bass = 34" Ball to Silk
and this is from the La Bella site...
All standard bass sets are LONG scale length. The 1st (G), 2nd (D), 3rd (A) strings are 38” from ball-end to silk/taper. The 4th (E) string is 36 ¾” from ball-end to silk/taper. Only the silk portion of the string should wrap around the tuning post or else the string will break.
