Ideas for a pickup/preamp upgrade for my SR300?

So I have a perfectly good SR300 that I play all of the time. It’s a cheaper bass, but it was my first and it’s still a quality instrument. It’s more comfortable to play songs in standard since it’s a 4 string, but sounds like trash compared to my SR506. It’s just a very low output, and very bland tone. The CAP pickups need to go.

I know Ibanez is known for being more modern and neutral in terms of tone, but I’d like it to have more grit. I KNOW I can’t get my Ibanez to sound like a Stingray, but I’d like to get as close as possible to that clanky/punchy sound as I can.

Any ideas? I’m open to anything, but it may get to the point to where replacing the hardware is so expensive that it just makes more sense to buy a new bass.

This might be better in the pickups and electronics forum. The moderators can move it.

What are the dimensions of the pickups currently in it? What controls does it have?

oops, probably why I’m not getting a lot of feedback! My bad, haven’t been on the site in a minute.

I believe they are 108x34. In terms of control setup, it has tone, pickup selector, volume, bass, and mid. Unless you’re asking about the actual preamp, which I have no idea what it is.
