Identify this bass

lol yes i did take out the pickups before sanding i just popped them back in to give an impression of how it will look when it is finished.

Good decision to sand it down! So how much did it actually cost you in the end?

Looks like it will be a great piece when it's finished - are you planning to oil it, or what?

It cost me £25 with new strings. I'm not sure what finish probably oil or a wax. I dont want to stain the wood too dark as i am trying to get it close to its original colour.

check out Brandoni guitars in wembley, they have lots of those bodies left, i imagine that is where it came from.

the guy who owns Brandoni guitars bought all of the Eko stock when the factory closed down in italy.

Here it is completed. i like it i think it looks nice. i added gold knobs which look better than the ones before! It plays really nice i spent most of today setting it up. Nice and natural! The camera doesn't do it justice.

Great job! That bass lives again Definitely a good call, those gold hardware. Makes the white pickup (ewww) look not so ugly

I couldn't resist it! the price that is. After searching the net i found in good condition they fetch bout £350. after close inspection i think the pickups are the originals and the paint work is also. The paint work has lots of sratches etc and after seeing this one: Invalid Link Removed

I thought hmmm wouldn't that be nice to have, i wonder if mine looks like that underneath the paint. so i went about sanding just a little of the back...

I found after hours of sanding it is a neckthrough and not glued on. Needs about a week more sanding until it is ready to be finished very similar to the one in the original picture.

I feel your pain in the sanding department. It took me a week to get my frankenbass body sanded down. I then went with the natural look. Cool!
