IEM Question

Lots of threads on here regarding IEM's with tons of good information if you do a quick search.

My drummer uses 3 driver Alien ears and is very satisfied.
My guitar player/lead vocal uses 5 driver Westones...pretty big $

Most buds you get with a system will be non-ear mold lower level single drivers so you will need to upgrade at some point.

Lots of systems, we use the Carvin which is decent for the money. Solid and pretty gig proof.

There is also 1964 Ears and Bassearz and many other bud manufacturers that make a fitted bud. They are all pretty decent I think.

I have dual driver Westone UM-2. I think for non-molded, generic fit they seal very well. They are not super expensive and work great.I use them at church through a Rolls PMS50 (I think) box. It's wired but I run the cable along with my bass cable and it works great.

Under $200 for the ears, 50 for the Rolls box and $10 for the extension cord for my ears. $250 for a nice sounding IEM system isn't bad. Sometimes I think I should have gone for the 3 driver, but in my research it seamed most people thought the 3 driver was more important if you sang - which I don't - and that dual driver seemed to be fine for bass and drums. My drummer has the same set up and is very happy.

I recommend trying the triple driver Westone UM3x. They are universal fit but can be upgraded to custom mold if you decide you like IEM and want to keep going that route. They are excellent quality triple drivers. $399 new, and about $125 if you later want them remolded into customs.

I have Westone UM-2's and just use the molds supplied and I think they are amazing. Plenty of isolation even without the custom mold option.
