If I change my pots....

....from the original import mini 250K, to full sized CTS 250K, while simply reusing the original cap and copying the original wiring diagram exactly, will I notice a change in tone?

In other words, will a 250K full-sized CTS pot sound different from a import mini-250K?

The reason I ask is, I think I want the CTS pots, but I want to retain the original tone of the electronics. I'm thinking it probably will change the tone, because the pots will not match exactly on resistance, despite the 250K rating.

What do you say?

I've heard an improvement in tone when changing to higher quality pots. A lot of people will argue the issue. It could be my solder connections were better than stock. I have no idea.

Changing to CTS pots will not change the tone enough to worry about. You end up better for the change, if not in sound quality, then in quality of materials and in the life of the pots.
