It's always hugely busy. Always.

Might go tomorrow over lunch. You'll get 800-900 cars on display. Takes a solid hour to rush through it. Every car by every manufacturer plus all the concept cars. It's great working so close by. I can be there in 5 minutes.

too cool. i wish i could have learned to drive in my dad's mini.. but he got rid of it in the early 70's. it's funny he still tells stories about that car; like how when it rained he would leave the bung holes open because it would always leak into the footwells, or how the windscreen wipers would lift off the windscreen if he went over a certain speed.. one time one of the wipers actually just flew off mid swipe and into the bushes by the side of the road. dad apparently went back by bike and searched the road for it for hours afterwards.

They have their quirks. Owning one is a never ending project. The upside is, they're easy to work on and every conceiveable part is available. I'm going to keep an eye out for one this year at the various car functions I attend. If I find a clean one for the right price, I might buy it.

I almost bought one a few years back that was fully tricked out, roll cage and everything. That thing was scary. Alas, I couldn't afford it.

My dad used to race minis in rally's in England during the sixties. He bought a used mini for 400 bucks off of some hippie chick in the hills. It was painted purple with poster paint. It was a 1958 Cooper S. The same he used to rally. He rebuilt it, restored it, and painted it porsche guards red. with a black top and had the interior redone in a nice beige ska tweed. The thing hauled ass. I remember him showing me how to do e-brake 180's in it. He sold it for 15k, after investing 3k into it. I used to love driving that thing.

That's cool. My Dad did a few club rallies with his. They were more like poker runs or seach and find events but he had a blast. He had a stock 850 then a somewhat modified 850. He then bought one that he and a friend did a LOT of work on. That was a fast one. Years later, I built a Ford Fiesta for Auto X and ended up running against my Dads old Mini!
