Which would it be, why and what would your signature bass look like? No real rules but describe in a lot of details.

I'd go with Spector in a heartbeat, I just love the sound. My custom would start out similar to a normal NS-5XL or Euro 5LX. It would have a maple or alder body w/ a figured maple top and back, and a matching headstock (I'd personally get spalted maple) and 3-piece maple neck shaped more like a Roscoe's. I'd probably have the body built closer to the Warwick Streamer Stage I shape with a wider body, flatter bottom edge, and a deeper cutaway on the lower horn. I like the idea of a zero fret so I'd throw that in there too .

I'd have mixed black and gold hardware. The bridge would look like this one:

The tuners would have a reversed color scheme (more gold than black). Like this:

The preamp would be a U-retro 01 with mixed hardware as well, just like this:

Finally, the pickups would be a EMG 40P/40J at the neck and EMG 40J at the bridge or dual EMG MM5-TWs. Both would have wood covers to match the body and the MM5-TW set would have coil tapping switches for series/parallel/single coil switching.

Man, I shudder to think how great it would sound... and how much it would cost without an endorsement, lol.

Ibanez, I have smallish hands so I love the neck on the SR series. Mine would be like the SR600 but white with balck hardware and black bartaloni humbuckers. And an Ebony fretboard instead of rose wood. It would be 24 frets and 4 strings. Maybe the freat markings would be white diamond shapes.

Exactly my thoughts. That's why I'm hesitating to post, since an endorsement is not necessary to build a dream bass.

For an endorsement, I think more of picking my favorite bass company, picking the production model I like the most and making some tweaks to it for my "signature model".

According to that, I'd think of my "signature Bongo" from EBMM in two versions:

- A 5-string fretted HHP (double humbucker + piezo) Bongo with a slightly wider (side to side) and slightly thinner (front to back) neck with binding, ebony fingerboard and MOP block inlays.

- A 5-string, unlined fretless HHP Stealth Bongo with epoxied ebony fingerboard and black roundwound strings. Also a slightly wider and thinner neck.

no P/J, just a P pickup, Seymour Duncan Quarterpounder SPB-3 (so no switchblade selector either)

no pickguard, natural finish
Hipshot type A brass bridge

it would come with DR HiBeam strings 50-70-90-110

And my signature would be discretely on the neckplate just like Tony Franklin's.

Well my first temptation is to say Carvin, tho they already pretty much make the bass I'd want.

I'd essentially reissue the bunny brunel but with the face of the bridge humbucker radiused to match the fingerboard rather than flat. That's all I can think of.

My other choice would be G&L with the following:

- lengthened upper horn to improve the balance.
- 6 string version
- no through-body stringing, screws in the bridge holes like there's supposed to be on all models
- radiused pickup faces
- good 18v preamp.
- fader knob for pickups rather than just the switch
- unlined FL/lined FL no-cost options

my endorsement is not my personal favorite, so I will have to switch it up a bit.

so, probably either Lakland 44-94 with hipshot ultralight, aguilar OBP-2 Preamp, quilted maple top and maple fingerboard. with some sort of black stone inlays of a tribal style on the fingerboard... bartolini in the bridge position, and a only-one made Tom Anderson humbucker in the front. (it would exist alright!)

or a nash 1969 jazz relic.

or a tobias 535 in blueburst like the one that was on the classifieds a minute ago that I should have purchased!
