read some john varley! great sci-fi author, especially his short stories set in his "eight worlds" universe.
he postulates a future where it's easy to modify your body, like with a prehensile tail, extra limbs, even grow a cloned body of the opposite sex and plop your brain into it, presto you're switched!
he uses this idea to explore what it means to be gay or straight when all sexual taboos have long since fallen away and you can make your body into anything you want.

I think the fact there's a band with 3 members considering the switch is interesting.
It might be good for other people who feel the need but feel they might be alone. Just stats like that might be enough to help them with their consideration.

As far as the OP, when I was younger, yes I'd have liked to experience it for a short while. Not at my age though. An aging woman has it a LOT harder than an aging man.

I don't know if I'm good at being male, but my wife puts up with me well enough. That's plenty enough for me to keep on being more or less the same.

Can't say I haven't thought about what it would be like to be a woman. It might be a good thing to try it for a brief time but I am happy with who I am.
I have always been a little jealous about the way women communicate. They seem to be able to share their emotions and feelings better than us guys. Maybe a woman could comment on this but it seems like women have an easier time getting close to each other than men do. I am one of those guys that make people uncomfortable and have had to learn to keep some things to myself.
