I'd choose a Ric 4003 or 4001 with a Badass II, and my first bass (which is now a great fretless that's actually quite versatile for having one soapbar humbucker.)
I think I'd pick a USA Fender P Special (passive) with a nice fat replacement Jazz bridge pickup, and maybe an Ibanez ATK300 with maple board, that way I'd have a P type, a J, a MM-style, an active and a passive, a rosewood and a maple, etc.
