Each Bass has it's own tone personality.

But if I had a gun to my head and had to only have two?
I guess.................
It would most likely be my:

(1) 2000 Alembic Orion 4 in mahogany with zebra wood top....ebony fretboard.

(2) 2008 Musicman LE Stingray Sequia Gold 4HS
OR
(2A) 2006 Warwick LE "Dirty Blonde" Thumb BO 4

OR OR OR ????? hahahaha

My modded 76 Precision and my 95 P Lyte would be the last two standing, although I'd darn sure try to figure out how to keep the Realistic violin bass. Fortunately, nobody's forcing me to only have two basses, so screw it ;)

I voted Fender because Squier wasn't among the options.
My VM 70s Jazz should arrive next Monday or Tuesday, I like to believe I'll have most ground covered with the J and the VM P I already have. Might put rounds on the J and flats on the P to keep things a bit more versatile.

I usually take two basses to gigs.... a flat strung P and a round strung J.

These days, it's
1) a '08 Fender MIA P with Chromes. I just recently put in a '62 P pup, and it's absolutely beautiful sounding.
2) a '97 Fender AmDlxJazz V currently strung with D'Addarios XL's. I can't believe I have settled into a 5 string, but this thing sounds crazy good, and plays so nice. I tend to play it like a 4 string, with only occassional forays onto the B string. Tonally, it kinda sits right in between a P and a more traditional J. I can understand how a J purist wouldn't be into this..... thankfully, I'm not a purist!

All that said, if I could only keep two of the six I currently own, I'd have a melt down, because I'm having trouble thinning it down to just 4 as it is!

That's easy for me .. since I only have two basses that I will be playing regularly anyway..

My Fender V5 24 and my Schecter SS5 ..

I have a 77 Jazz bass but I rarely play it. I keep it more dfor sentimental value.. and an SR505 which is also kind of sentimental as it was my first 5, and a MK Dragonfly fretless.. but if I had to narrow it down to two it would be theese two and that because those are the two I have and know. I am sure that there are other basses out ther that would make me drool.. but I don't own any of them so... ;)
