I would not want to play ANY one bass from any point in my life out to the end. For me it's been far more educational and fun to get what I thought I wanted at any one time, get it, learn it and live with it, then . . . . . it's day has passed, it was great in its time, and then I'm off in a different direction. They're very good tools, and some of them I've really been moved by, and I took really good care of them and loved them for a while, but then it was time to move on. And every one of them taught me a little something about basses, and usually about myself too.

That's the one process I've followed . . . . forever. I'm too curious a person to do otherwise.

Although I'd miss my P Bass terribly, this is a bit more versatile.

I always like that bass everytime you post it, I gotta throw a humbucker near the neck on a Fender P......maybe a J near the bridge too. What year is that thing anyway, looks like a 60's.

Sorry to repost it to the point that you recognize it

62 is the year

I did that long before I ever saw "The Wife." Matter of fact, they both started life in that configuration about the same time. So there was no way I could have seen it.

I'm thinking of pulling that Guild humbucker and putting in a Hagstrom Bisonic copy as that was my original intent. But at the time, I couldn't get one and put the humbucker in, instead.

I’ve cycled through tons of basses, of all different pickup configurations, neck profiles, four five and six strings, and as I go into the next phase of my life, which won’t see me gigging as much, this CIJ 60s RI Fender P will be my primary bass for the foreseeable future.
