Would you pick an Ampeg SVT-VR with a SVT810 or would you go with a Bergantino IP112/EX112 stack ???

Having heard neither, and just based on reviews here, the Berg is probably closer to my tastes. And I could leave the EX112 home for smaller gigs.

i really like the sound of the svt's but i played through a ht/ex112 combo the other day and i liked that sound also. I could imagine the ip being superior to the ht.

i play mostly indie rock but since i live on the 3rd floor of an apartment with no elevator it would be hard for me to take the svt's right now. I really like their sound. I also sometimes play keyboards and sax looped with effects through the cab so they need to be able to handle all of the frequencies of my instruments. im afraid the berg would be the way to go. not that im saying its a bad thing. i just really like the svt's

If I had the money, I'd ask the diabolical Dr Bergantino to make me an IP210. Pretty please. With sugar on top.

Or perhaps I'd get the IP112 and an Acme Low B2W.

The Ferrari/Bentley comparison is right on, though. Your back might disagree, but you can't really go wrong with either.

The IP112/EX112 mini-stack is low profile, light, easy to transport by yourself, and doesn't take a flatbed to haul around and has the tone and volume for any gig I will ever do. That said, if I were a rock star and had groadies doing all the grunt work, I'd probably have a row of fridges to tickle my intestines with, then again, a row of IP310's sitting on top of a row of IP212's sounds like a heck of a grand idea.

Haven't heard the VR yet, but it sounds like a great unit.

(I chose the IP 310, which to me is the best rig I've heard).

Exactly. I find the IP rigs to be extremely versatile (paired with the right preamp for the task at hand), but all-tube rigs are quite fun, too (like, say, and all-Sadowsky rig! ).

I'd go with Bergs. I think they sound better and are more versatile than the Ampegs. Just my opinion.
