if you had to pick... bridge or neck pickup?

I added the P pickup for some extra versatility, but I mainly just play on the soloed bridge pickup.

It sounds like any other fretless Jazz bass with the bridge pickup soloed, nothing special about it.

What does yours sound like?

I used to really be into the heavily emphasized, or solo'ed bridge pup trip. I felt I needed it in order to get a quick, punchy sound but eventually decided I sounded a bit too much like many of the Jaco clones out there. Many years and many basses later I am firmly in the P bass camp, with a quick, punchy sound, so my answer is neither. I like the sound of a Jazz with both pups equal but don't like either solo'ed.

I prefer the bridge pickup soloed to the neck pickup soloed. But I always use them both together.

...but if I had to choose only one, it'd be the neck.

On my jazz-ish bass, I often play with the neck at 100%, and the bridge at about 75%. I love that sound.

I have never gotten a good tone soloing either. I play JJ setups, and have come to think of them as a physically separated humbucker in parallel. To me it is one pickup.

ok i know most of you are are gonna say its opinion but whats you opinion? if you had to pick a bridge or neck pick (jazz) pickup id personally go with a bridge how bout you?

My bass doesn't even have a bridge pickup.
A change of plucking position avails one quite a palette of tones and sounds.

On my EMG PJ bass, I don't like the tone of either pickup soloed, I always use a mix.
