If you're Iggy, why do AI at all? Apparently, integrity is not a part of the equation. Then again, maybe Iggy genuinely likes the show and thinks there are some truly talented singers on it. But if he simply decided to "take the check and run!", then his integrity has to take a hit. Either show up and give it your best, or don't show up at all.

Poor Iggy, old skin and out of breath before he finishes a single 150 second song. The shows I saw 30 years ago still stand out as some of the best concerts I've ever attended. What I just saw saddened me.

Did you hear the NPR interview he did last year? Lord, it made my flesh crawl. Terry Gross asked him how he keeps so thin...

While I largely agree with you, part of me also says that in this business sometimes you just gotta take the piss.

Personally, I think Casey Abrams (bass playing guy) is one of the best overall musicians this show has seen, and Pia Toscano's voice is world class.

As for Iggy Pop's performance, I found the vocals dull and the perfomance on the verge of uncomfortable to watch. To me, it seemed like Iggy was not too interested to be there except to collect a check. (IMO, YMMV)

What do you accomplish by giving nothing to that performance? I mean, regardless of why you take a gig like that, no matter what the reasons, there is absolutely no question that you should give it your all. Making an awesome showing can only be a good thing, to your old hardcore fans, and strangers alike. I wish he had cut his chest and splattered blood all over the J-Lo, like the good old days. THAT would have been awesome.

FWIW, I don't think Iggy threw away that performance, I think thats all he could muster. Therein lies my sadness...........

I got a kick watching the contestants clap and cheer as Iggy performed....they didn't have a clue as to who he was. Probably went home and asked their parents.

I also enjoy watching the contestants themselves, especially the ladies with bicycle-parking cleavage.

I dug seeing Iggy on AI just for how bizarre it was, but the performance was pretty poor. The band are clearly good musicians but couldn't play the music with the balls it needed; maybe they were too gobsmacked and couldn't shake themselves out of Idol's teflon-slick haze.

As fer Iggy and integrity; give him a break! The dude released three of the greatest rock n' roll records of all time and then had to wait almost 40 years before the rest of the world catch up to him. He deserves a payday!!

I admit that I don't know much about Iggy. I also heard an NPR interview with him. He left me with the impression of having a major holier then you attitude when it comes to other types of music. It really turned me off to him. based on this interview, he seems like a hypocrit being on American Idol. Makes me think a lot less of him. I can respect some one's artistic value even when they trash other people's music as long as they don't whore themselves out.

OK what the HELL is iggy doing on american idolatry?

I just lookd it up on the interweb. That was terrible but everybody's gotta eat. maybe he got some sugar out of it who knows but i hate to see an icon show up on that tv mechanism on either a commercial or a reality-istic-ism show

this sucks now im disillusioned
