If I was Iggy, I would give that performance nothing. Sure, I'm in it for the satisfaction not the money, but where is the satisfaction in being on AI? I'd give them a crock of sh**, take the check and run!

If you're Iggy, why do AI at all? Apparently, integrity is not a part of the equation. Then again, maybe Iggy genuinely likes the show and thinks there are some truly talented singers on it. But if he simply decided to "take the check and run!", then his integrity has to take a hit. Either show up and give it your best, or don't show up at all.If I was Iggy, I would give that performance nothing. I just watched the recording of this performance, and I'm reminded of an interview I saw last year, Tavis Smiley talking to Prince. At one point Tavis was asking Prince about how his performances have toned down a bit as he has gotten older, and Prince replied, "No one wants to look at old skin."
Poor Iggy, old skin and out of breath before he finishes a single 150 second song. The shows I saw 30 years ago still stand out as some of the best concerts I've ever attended. What I just saw saddened me.

I'm a regular watcher of AI. Whatever your own opinion of the music is, that's fine, but there are also some amazingly talented artists every season (maybe more this season than ever before). Personally, I think Casey Abrams (bass playing guy) is one of the best overall musicians this show has seen, and Pia Toscano's voice is world class.
As for Iggy Pop's performance, I found the vocals dull and the perfomance on the verge of uncomfortable to watch. To me, it seemed like Iggy was not too interested to be there except to collect a check. (IMO, YMMV)
Lord, I agree completely. When artists like Iggy start doing this stuff, what does it say??? Will *anyone* become a drone for TV $$$???
Iggy, Iggy... how far we've fallen....![]()
It is clearly a popularity contest rather than a legitimate skills competition.
What do you accomplish by giving nothing to that performance? I mean, regardless of why you take a gig like that, no matter what the reasons, there is absolutely no question that you should give it your all. Making an awesome showing can only be a good thing, to your old hardcore fans, and strangers alike. I wish he had cut his chest and splattered blood all over the J-Lo, like the good old days. THAT would have been awesome. If I was Iggy, I would give that performance nothing. Sure, I'm in it for the satisfaction not the money, but where is the satisfaction in being on AI? Iggy has never taken himself that seriously. I think it's part of his lasting charm.
Kinda like Steven Tyler being an AI judge?Yeah, but this seems... I don't know... just beneath him. Maybe he's doing it for the kitsch value. Certainly doing it for the $$$...
