...he could make a few phone calls to Fender dealers in the adjacent towns to see if they had any AM STD. P bass in 3 tone sunburn or olympic white with rosewood fretboard...
Something he should have done weeks ago.

Good luck, I hope it works out for you. Glad to see the store is trying to make it work.
I'm glad too. Now I just hope the bass will be in mint condition since it's a floor model, and hope I don't get a lemon.
To me it sounds like someone's dropping the ball at that store. Fender has zero wait time on standard production model basses...
If the store was truthful about Fender screwing up your order and not placing it in December, you might want to see if Fender will hook you up with a new pack of strings and some Fender guitar cleaner if you're willing to take on a floor model bass to get a bass into your hands now.
When will you find out if the bass is in ok shape?
It's a B.S. excuse. Dude...Fender puts out thousands of basses every year. They aren't back-ordered. They don't have "paint issues". They don't build to order...they mass-produce basses and stock warehouses with them. All that has to happen is dealer X calls or emails their Fender rep an order. That order is pulled and shipped to dealer X, who then turns around and hands you a Fender bass in exchange for your money. You're getting screwed by the store. It's blatantly obvious by the amount of excuses they've cooked up.
I disagree. The store has no incentive to screw you.
Fender also puts out thousands of guitars every year. It took me three
and a half months to get an American Standard Strat. Fender has
major backorder problems right now.
Don't fret it man!
It's not a big deal
I wasn't making any neg remarks about "them"; just talkin bout fender and some of their practices
To me it sounds like someone's dropping the ball at that store. Fender has zero wait time on standard production model basses so if that store isn't getting it from whomever they usually go through, and you've paid in full, they should have went elsewhere. Same for the VT Bass pedal.
