Glad you've been able to persevere, while you were gone tort was still worshiped obsessively, lots of people bought new gear and even more recommended others buy new gear, and nobody had a frigging clue what the best bass for metal is

I've got some very limited vision restored and I'm working hard on the mobility. I can stand, with some support, for a short time but cannot walk - yet. My bass playing has all but gone completely, which seems a shame as I was just beginning to get the hang of it after about 40 years!
I have no idea what your situation is, but in my day job I work pretty closely with people who have experienced significant injuries and I've seen some amazing recovery stories. It doesn't happen overnight of course, and there are never guarantees, but keep at itI've got some very limited vision restored and I'm working hard on the mobility.
