I'm confused

I've been playing more than 25 years and was always attracted to exotic boutique instruments, and have owned a few- active this or that, graphite necks, 5 strings, neck-through, fretless, etc., and for the heck of it really, bought a new American Standard P bass late last year. It is the only bass I play anymore, I have absolutely fallen in love with it, but it took awhile. Big mental shift for me, coming from active two-pickup basses. But it finally clicked a couple of months ago, and I can't put it down. I never would have believed such a simple instrument would work for me, but it does, in spades. Never would have believed it, not in a million years.
