Besides, she is going to marry ME, in a quiet ceremony with just a few family & friends in Gibralter by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

This "Gibralter" of which you write is unfamiliar to me. Where might it be in relation to its almost namesake, Gibraltar?

I'm just glad she's being recognized for the talent she has, as well as being somewhat of a representative of bassists everywhere. There's so much talent that honestly, I'm glad to see one float to the top. You have people with incredible skill who go their entire lives making and playing beautiful music and may only get a few minutes on the local news for it. Esperanza represents, I think, those people and in that I think she's more than just Esperanza Spalding, more than just a bassist and more than just beautiful, she's carrying our collective torch.

And for someone like me, 16 and planning on devoting a large portion of my life to the bass, it's hope, in that now I know that the world hasn't gone insane and that people can still appreciate the music we make.

Playing for the president and Stevie Wonder at the White House is the time to be deliciouly pompous. the ONLY way it wouldn't be tacky is she no longer owns a fine double bass and is THAT commited to the Czech Ease. Otherwise, she really should have gotten her bass there. I am sure half the posters in this thread would have driven it there for her!

I agree with Damon. This just got stupid and not that cool to our female forum members. Imagine how stupid it would be to start posting sexy photos of Avashai Cohen? This forum is about the bass and bassist. There is no thread heading called "BILFS" for either gender because it is simply below us all. (ok, that's kind of funny, but you get my point". I get so sick of hearing "the brightest young star on the jazz horizon" line though. Very pretentious, and if I were her, I'd try to get them to tone that kind of introduction down a good bit.
