I wonder if Stevie noticed.
I don't know about calling that 'phoning it in' as she still plays beautifully but that did strike me as strange too. If [/B][/B]it were me I'd call up Christian McBride and see if I could rent Ray's old bass for a day. I mean, it's the White House. Regardless of your politics most people never get that chance and even fewer get it twice.
Imagine away. The only bass of Ray's is in the hands of John Clayton. The Sylvestre. The big one is in the hands of a Canadian classical player.

There's two people never to be mentioned here--and you just named both of them.
Sorry to burst all your bubbles (NOT!) but in her last interview, Ms. Spalding says--and I quote verboten--"I think I'll move to the Detroit area to be with Donger. With a name like that, what's not for a girl to like?"
I get it, perhaps you feel that only basses Ray ever "owned" were his main longtime players, the two you've mentioned. But it seems that Christian feels that he has taken possession of one that Ray loved just as much as those two.
For the OP, having a crush on Esperanza is kinda cute!Nothing wrong with that at all.
