Not nonsense at all. The Invalid Link Removed doesn't work in the grit-eating blues band for the same reason that the Fender Precision does not work in the costumed theatrical space prog band. Its the wrong costume for the concept. Its as if the concert master of the London Symphony pulled out a Mark Wood Viper violin at a Mozart performance. There is not one instrument that is suitable for all styles of music. Fenders are no exception. Seeing the bassist for Gwar, Bjork or Marylin Manson slinging a '63 Fender Precision would be visually incongruous to the theme of the show, in the same way that a molded carbon fiber Invalid Link Removed would be visually incongruous to the theme of a Johnny Cash cover band. Not nonsense at all. Common sense.

Swimming up stream here, but here's my BassLab "Imperial Blue" 5-string at a recent Celtic gig... with Yamaha BX-1 in the back left.

Edit: We received plenty of good comments about the songs and the sound, but only one about the instruments - and it was about why there were so many tuners on her guitar. I thought that it was curious that no-one was curious about my headless instrument.

Having bought played and sold many “boutique” basses over the years a realization struck me. In most cases you can easily buy any of the components off the shelf, that all the boutique builder names use. Also they often sub out much of the woodwork, so in essence become assemblers.

Well I have a nice Fender American Deluxe Jazz. Nice quality, plays nice but the pups/preamp are lacking, So after researching the many boutique component options I decided to go with Fralin/Audere. So now I have a good quality bass the sounds and plays as good as any. Sure there are no swirls or stripes in the wood, or exclusive nameplate, but it does all I need and more, at a fraction of the cost with quality upgraded where its need. so why would I want to by something I can frame on the wall thats not going to be any improvement where it counts?

Ultimately Ive learned that its methodical consistent practice and musical growth that wins above all else. All the rest (instrument, rig etc) are just tools to facilitate your musical expresion.

I play two Warwick basses and they sound (almost) the same. Or is it me that sounds (almost) the same? Anyway, the more expensive one just looks nicer, so it's worth it

Sometimes it’s difficult NOT to sound like a wise guy....BUT....I can pick up a used scalpel in a junk store for 50 cents and a book on heart surgery at the library. Who wants to be my patient? ‍
