Not to derail this awesome thread but i just ordered a American Standard P and i am jonesing heavily for it's arrival. I got the black with maple and ordered a black pickguard to replace the white. I have been dreaming about this bass since i saw Joe Bouchard playing one at my first concert. ZZTop, BOC, Johnny and Edgar Winter and Rory Gallagher. Aug. 1976. Anaheim Stadium.
Back on topic!
enjoy

I have to admit i'm with the OP and Hawaii Islander. I looked at many basses including all the Squiers i hear everyone saying such good things about but IMHO they just dont compare with the American Standards and Deluxes. I'm not saying they're bad basses! It's just the others are better. I bought mine sight unseen but i played a 2010 AS with a maple neck and it was......awesome.

Nooooo, you fell victim to the troll! :help:

Nope just stating the obvious, there is a HUGE difference between a usa p bass and a squier P bass, but if you look at it from a classic view a squier affinty is closer to a pre cbs fender , then a fender standard usa.

I like squiers alot , i honestly dont feel like owning another fender, i have owned an easy 30 fender/squier instruments probably more like 50. I think MIJ sq/jv squiers are the best "fender" anything bass wise.

Wood alder. Alder wood. Fender made. Squire.

Dripping sap. Wood. Alder made Fender. Fender made wood. Squire, Fender made. Fender made. Fender make Squire. No alder.

Squire vintege molifier jizz Body mapple. Best beginner.

Bongo basswood. No good. MM make basswood Sturling. MM made. Now we have MM Bongo, basswood not sturling. S'all I'm sayin.

Oh lord.

Damn, this is too long for a new sig line.:bawl:

a few months ago, i was was given a lot of flack here, because i wrote that squire basses were begginer basses at best. and they did not have the same build quality and wood alder to be exact. and so i made the suggestion that fender could make a decent fender bass with alder if made overseas to cut cost and now we have the modern player. fender made, alder wood. im just saying

Here is a brilliant idea you may not have thought of! If you don't like them, don't buy them. Problem solved. ;)

Exactly this. Why bash a brand over the Internet when quite frankly, nobody really cares? If you don't like Squier, don't buy them. If you want to save hundreds, and hundreds for a new Fender, go for it. I hope you enjoy it.

The name on the headstock, or the amp, or anything means nothing by the way. It's a brand. That's like saying I wouldn't buy home brand crisps just because they don't say 'Walkers' on them. If they taste good, who cares?

Just sayin', Anthony.
