I find it really entertaining that people think you're serious. And actually, I'd find it even more entertaining if you were serious. I get a lot of enjoyment from talkbass in a lot of different ways.

If you can tell me ten things that differ between an American fender standard p and a Chinese squier affinity p I will say... I'm an idiot five times in a location of your choice.
(the logo, opinions and where it was made don't count)

2.) Body wood differs, USA is typically alder, squier differs
3.) USA has a thin skin poly paint job
4.) USA has graphite rods in neck
5.) USA has a highmass bridge
6.) USA is string through
7.) USA has full size cts pots
8.) USA has truss rod adjustment at heel not headstock
9.) USA comes with maple fretboard option
10.) USA has a triple ply white guards or tort verse's single ply white on the squier
11.) Body thickness , USA is thicker then a affinity

Fender came out with the Modern Player and Blacktop line of basses priced starting just above the Squier Classic Vibe series. I have no idea where these are made.

They may or may not be made of better quality parts and materials that the Squier basses. That said, I don't like the feel of Squier basses and guitars. The Squier necks just don't feel as solid to me as the Fender necks. A rare exception to cheap basses with nice necks are the Chinese Peavey Millenium basses. I would prefer an American made P-bass over any of the previous basses mentioned. I owned a Fender American P-bass 5 string that played and felt great. Financial difficulties forced me to sell it.

Oh no! I've been gigging for 30+ years, have owned 8 Fenders ranging from American Deluxe to genuine 64 L series Jazz, plus a host of other brands. The only bass guitar I own now is a Squier CV 50s P. I feel so ashamed. I think I'll cover up my headstock with a towel or something at my next gig on Thursday night.... so no-one can see the Squier logo...
Hey 007.... didja know that this Squier, with it's pine body and Made In China sticker, is better quality and sound than any of the 8 USA made Fenders I've had.

Not to derail this awesome thread but i just ordered a American Standard P and i am jonesing heavily for it's arrival. I got the black with maple and ordered a black pickguard to replace the white. I have been dreaming about this bass since i saw Joe Bouchard playing one at my first concert. ZZTop, BOC, Johnny and Edgar Winter and Rory Gallagher. Aug. 1976. Anaheim Stadium.

When you buy a Squier, you pay less for the bass new than the ammount you lose on selling most Fenders used...who cares about selling it??
Just saying.
If it beats all the US Fenders I've ever owned, do ya really think I'll be wanting to sell it?
