I'm officially boycotting Guitar Center

"Scary" was the Batch Name
of the clone series
of the requisite
"Nasty, un bathed Goth pincushion babe"
Found in ALL G.C. locations.

"Julie" refers to her release date.:cool:

Now the "Stacy" units...:hyper::hyper::hyper:

I have to say, the "Goth pincushion babe" at the Southington CT Guitar Center is really very nice. The hair/piercings/etc aren't all that pleasing to / aimed at my generation, but she's a sweet kid.

Guess I'll chime in here. The GC I go to at the Blackstone Valley Shoppes in Millbury, MA is a good store, with a good selection of gear and a knowledgeable staff who tend to leave me alone unless I need some help. Maybe being 60 has something to do with it! I can go in, grab a bass off the wall, get a cable and try it out on any number of amps available. As a rule I try to go on an early weekday afternoon, since the teenage shredders are still in school at that time. After a while I'll head on over to the acoustic guitar room and try a few acoustics, then I'm usually out the door to go meet my wife up at Barnes and Noble.

That's what I like about the two Nashville area stores. They will ask you if you need anything, and if you say no they leave you alone without leaving the area altogether. I kinda get the impression that these locations are unique, I guess because of all the competition in that town. It's a shame they're not all like that. If the Nashville stores were like many of the reports posted here, I'd have nothing to do with them.

Does anyone here remember when
Can I help you?
Thank YOU. and
Please tell your friends.
was the NORM.?

Being a crusty old coot, yes I can. And, those phrases are why I take my business to the Sam Ash here, and Cowtown Guitars. The last time I went to Sam Ash;
1. the security guy wanted to know which bike I was riding this time (the Harley); we had to go look at it, and talk bikes for a few minutes;
2. the guitar/bass sales manager comes out; greets me by name, and we discuss who's maybe going to make a lefty bass I might be interested in this year. Last year I watched him on the phone for over an hour, trying to find me a lefty Thunderbird. He did, and of course I bought it;
3. the head guitar tech comes out of the back, shakes my hand, and we talk about how his band's doing; what he's been working on lately; and when he's going to get his hands on one of my Rickenbackers again.

Cowtown Guitars is the same (except it's Roy the amp guy who I talk bikes with; and Ricks; and whatever weird elecrtic stuff he's got going on). But, everybody else is just as personable - even Jessie, the owner. And they will do whatever it takes to make you a happy customer.

OF course they get my business, along with the business of everybody I can send their way. GC, on the other hand... they need to fix their business model - real soon. :)

BY GOD

Exactly. That is what I and a few others have been trying to explain!:hyper:

It's NOT that damn hard people.
I have 2 yup T W O Guitard Centers
CLOSER
to my house than Sam Ash.

Guess who gets MY business?
AND everyone I know, knows it.

They ask me HEY GATOR, yup my friends actually DO call me GATOR

HEY GATOR, where can I get a so and so?

Me: By God I would go to Sam Ash.

Next time I se them, where do you thing they went?

Now GIBRAT51, I'd like to invite you to come on over to the Humor Forum, and vote in our Guitar Center SUCKS official club POLL, and request a number if you like.:thumbsup:

:)PLEASE :)

That is referred to as "the MAGIC word" for those of you that may NOT have actually heard it.:woot:

Last time I was in Wichita (Last years Winfield Show) I stopped into GC, and found a Taylor 414CE Fall Limited 2011 with hard case for $440. I had the sales guy verify the price, and that was the price in the computer so I bought it, with the 2 year pro coverage. That was $1000 less than they go for on eBay. There are certain advantages to having sales people who don't know the products!

Mostly when I go to GC, I try not to make eye contact with the sales folks. They try, but they usually can't answer even simple questions. I don't think I've ever been happy with the recommendations I've gotten there, but they have a great return policy!
Are you a Kansan, or were you just passing through?

Not from Kansas... I'm a "Mass-hole!" Massachusetts born and raised.

A few years ago I met Billie Preston (Fredholm) on a flight from Boston to Minneapolis. We hit it off and I've been out to the Walnut Grove Festival in Winfield for the past few years.

It's a great time. I bring my Mandolin, and I get to go from campsite to campsite playing with so many talented people.

Mostly I just hang out with Robin Roberts and Billie Preston, but last year I met and got to visit with John McCutcheon.

The Louisville GC is a good store. The staff are quick to help and always friendly. I also go on weekdays when the kids are in school and that makes a HUGE difference.
I can understand that MIGHT just cut down on the whankery,
but if all of the kids are in school,

who is minding the store?:woot:
Nasty unbathed goth pincushion babe at the front door has to wait on customers too ?

C'mon...

And this is also why I go to the GC here in Waco and not the local Mom and Pop. I guess I haven't earned the right to go into the local mom and pop.

Everyone I've seen at the Louisville store is pretty clean cut and professional. Even if they weren't, I wouldn't care. It is dumb to judge people based on how they look, especially being a musician.

are you SURE you were at Guitard Center?
That would be the ONLY one in the free world without the pincushion babe on the front door.
READ this very thread for testimonials to same.:cool:
