Wow, I've never seen Dave say that before. I must admit, your living one of my bass playing fantasies. To get on Letterman and talk Sadowskys with Will, I'd be like "Dave who" the whole time.:hiding:

I'm totally jealous.

The "are you in the band?" question from Dave, and the hired gun keyboardist's facial expression in response, was pretty funny.

I didn't like the way they mixed it. Matt's voice sounded good. Aaron's(?) guitar was too loud. Everything else was too quiet.

You sounded great once I cranked it up enough to hear it. I liked the eye contact you made right before the first chorus with the guitarist. It looked like "Can you believe this?!". Good stuff.

Everyone except the keys player looked very comfortable up there. He looked petrified, which is probably how I'd look in that situation.

I love playing with Konrad. He is an old friend of mine and I fought to get him in the band when Matt fired our first drummer. Matt thought he wanted a different type of drummer like a Josh Freese rather than a Jim Keltner type like Konrad. So he hired a power drummer for a tour but we let him go and then I convinced Matt to hire Konrad. Now everything is totally gelling. I'm really looking forward to recording Matt's next record with Konrad. We had Jason McGerr from Death Cab for Cutie play on the last record. That was a lot of fun for me, but we didn't have that much time to really get a great vibe happening.

I do agree that the "are you with the band?" comment was a little wierd..although so was David L eating oysters with Martha Stewart! I was never a big fan of hers!

anyways - this is a thread about your experience...not hers!!!

way to go...GREAT job!

remember that 5 string we played with the Chi sonic pickups? well, that is headed my way very soon!!!

PS - many of my daughters friends think its cool that I know you....she tells them we "did some bass stuff together".....not sure what that means, but.....take care and stay in touch!!!

Why did you think it was a hoax? There's been some high profile gigs on here, including most of the late shows, shows at the Playboy Mansion (R.I.P. Adrian), and a a few VERY successful rock cats (Justin Meldal Johnson from NIN and Johnny April from Staind) and some absolutely top-notch players, i.e. Jeff Berlin.

Hey guys, I'm also playing on the Ellen Degeneres show tomorrow if you get a chance to watch. We taped it today. Judge Judy and Brett Michaels were the guests. It was a lot of fun and totally laid back, but not the big deal that Letterman was for me. Played that talkbass Lakland again but with TI flats this time.

And after reading your post I just bought a set of nickel lo-riders. I think I have slinkies on there now but was due for a change.
