imic or straight in to audio-in

ok... i had to sell all my recording interface to pay my phone bill a few months back..(yes i know... sad really..) i dont have much money to replace it so im going to use my mxr m-80.. buy a mixer and run that into my macbook.

what i would like to know is.. Would the audio quality be better to run the mixer directly into the audio-in or get a imic and run it into that?


bass > m-80 > mixer > imic or audio-in?

from a quick search i was able to figure out what an iMic was (doh!). after reading that, i say you should be fine just going audio-in since you have a mixer and a DI between you and the Laptop.
