I'm looking for a cheat code for the "chorus" so-to-speak. My band is attempting to do a what if Red Hot Chilli Peppers covered it version. The best I could think of is following the intro/verse riff along the chord progression. But that could become repetitive.

I just run up an A Mixo twice, a B Mixo twice, and then a C Mixo thrice, with a chromatic finish

Okay, I'll elaborate a little bit...
To me, a fast mixo run up would be M(root (s4@f5, A)), P, next string, I, M, P, next string, I, M, P (root)
2 in A, 2 in B, 3 in C
Very last four notes at "western shore!" (the chromatic finish), I, M, R, P , then the rest, then back to F# riff

I think some folks use Majors at that spot, but to me, mixos sound just slightly minor, and more appropriate to my ear.

it's actually the Dorian mode. A Dorian, B Dorian, C Dorian, played very very fast and with a heavy emphasis on the first note. Mixolydian would actually clash with the chords Page is playing

That riff, those 3 ascending scales, I dare say is the hardest riff for me of all JPJ lines. Took me a good 6 months to get it to speed and at times I’m still fumbling with it 5 years later.

Just take it down to its core. The riff is as stated above, it’s 3 mixolydian scales (major with a flat 7th), in A, B, and C, played in 16th notes. To simplify, make it 8th notes, and play the notes he plays on those beats, so the root, 3rd, 5th, flat 7th. Each would be played like he does, twice per measure, and the frame would be the same, just half the notes!

I hear these runs with the major 3rd, not the minor, which would make them mixolydian. That's also how it's notated in every tablature I can find (though those are not always accurate).

The notes go by so fast it’s kinda hard to tell. In a live setting either works.
