I've just started playing double bass in a band for the first time, but in the practice room we're using, I'm running my bass into someone else's amp (an H&H 100w bass combo). Now, I have a K&K bass max, run through a Behringer BDI21 pre (not great, but £20 and should knock the impedance down from 1m to 1k ohm). And the sound I get is rubbish - really treble, really quiet, feeds back at audible volume.
So this sounds like what everyone says about mis-matched impedance, but I've run the same setup into my Hartke 500w and it sounded cool - plenty loud and deep.
So is it most likely that the 1k ohm output is still too much for the H&H? Or could it be something else? Thanks!
