Impedance!!!!!***!!??!!

short answer: Yes that amp and speakers will work together!

if you run one per side you will get much less than 750 into each cab... the specs should give you the 8 ohm per channel rating.
 
No problem using your amp with the GS112s. I'm guessing that your amp puts out about 400W per channel into 8 ohms. That's already more than the 300W rating of the GS112.

You could run either stereo or bridged, just keep an ear on the cabinets at high volumes. If they start to complain, back off on the volume.

Definately try it both ways. If my memory serves me correct, my amp puts out 350 W @ 8 Ohms per channnel. I actually prefer to bridge my amp (1500 W @ 4 Ohms) into my two GS112's. The extra power seems to really open the cabs up.

So what exactly happens-in terms of impedance-when you run 1500watts @ 4 ohm(bridge) into two cabs rated at 8 ohm?

If you daisy chain two 8 ohm cabinets together, the amp sees a 4 ohm total combined load. Each speaker will get up to 750W each.

In general terms, adding more speakers in parallel lowers overall impedance.

ummmmmmmmmmm sorry, but that's not quite right.

actually, there is an old thread of mine on impedance/ohms linked in the faq sticky at the top of amps.

when you run a stereo amp bridged into a 4 ohm load (such as your two 8 ohm cabs daisy chaned together), each side of the amp "sees" a2 ohm load. Unless your crest can safely run into 2 ohms per side stereo (4 ohms bridged) you should not do that. It will work for a while, then the amp will overheat and break and you will void your warranty.

if ther crest puts out 750 per side into 4 ohms it probably puts out 450 or so into 8 ohms per side. you should have no problem running one 8 ohm cab per side even though the amp puts out a bit more than the cabs are rated for wattage wise - (just dont turn it all the way up to "11"):smug:

Many (most?) Crest amplifiers are rated to drive 2 ohms per channel and 4 ohms bridged. The OP hasn't given us the model information on his amp, however, it would seem that he did mention that it was rated at 1500W into 4 ohms bridged. Two 8 ohm cabinets wired in parallel would present a 4 ohm load to his amp.

The Crest V1500 is rated to drive 2 ohms per channel and 2000W into 4 ohms bridged, as well as 400W per channel into 8 ohms.

I'd make sure to be careful not to overpower the speakers if you choose to use bridge mode.
