If I designed my own bass it'd be string-thru, have a zero fret, and a kill switch! On a jazz bass I dial my bridge pickup back 25% and it would be nice to mute that without fussing with knobs.

I have spent an inordinate amount of times from when I was six, on, trying not to be clumsy.A lot of envy veiled behind sarcasm!
It is MY bass that will make no sound when I smack the headstock into a cymbal, cab or the wall of crammed stage in a small club.
I'll be there in spirit, frowning, when all 4-5/6/7 of your strings embarrassingly ring out!
Very good! Then maybe a kill/mute/standby switch is not right for you. Too bad!I have spent an inordinate amount of times from when I was six, on, trying not to be clumsy.
make it a momentary switch & it's an effect:
Oh, c'mon, we're just having fun. Some people want the ability to turn off their bass just as the joint is jumpin, girls are throwing their panties, and major label dudes are looking impressed! Enjoy.Very good! Then maybe a kill/mute/standby switch is not right for you. Too bad!
I guess so! My dimension is more 'keep the strings quiet while not in use without losing my volume settings'. Also, less noodling during soundcheck and during band practices
I recently put a Noll active preamp

Agreed! And why use a simple toggle when it's way cooler to add it to your pedalboard?Oh, c'mon, we're just having fun. Some people want the ability to turn off their bass just as the joint is jumpin, girls are throwing their panties, and major label dudes are looking impressed! Enjoy.
I'd much prefer to have the advantage of using it as an effect.
Muting cables... I have those.I'm thinking no knobs and a muting cable.. Plus tuner mutes

I want to get rid of the pots and go switch only. Three settings:
All on
Bridge only with tone cap
All off
Little complex but I’ll figure it out.
