I have been playing for years but never used them. I want to give a try. Any recommendations ? Should I go for the custom ears or something like the um pro 20?

There's plenty of "advice" on this forum (if you search) and thru other musician's sites about going IEM.
But, you have 2 choices.. custom or universal fit. If you have small ear canals, customs are your best choice.
I would suggest - without a trip to an audiologist - that you gauge that by how well buds from iPhones, mp3 players and other devices with buds fit your ears.. do you have to have the "small" sleeves and do they lose the seal? IF so you likely have small canals.. The seal is the most important part for bass players.. without it, there is no bass!
Whichever way you go, I highly recommend multiple drivers over single drivers - especially for bass... I have 1964 Quads (Qi's) which are simply awesome. Decide on a budget if you want customs, then factor in $50+ (on average) to get molds done by an audiologist.
