I use an in-ear system, Avioms, 95% of the time I play. I get the opportunity to travel about once a month, nothing special, but I enjoy it and it comes with good perks. (Also use an Aviom system on the road) (IF) I happen to get a bass cabinet while on the road, I try my hardest to get it miced. If not, I just go direct with my radial bassbone. (sorry, I know I've said this on other posts, just trying to give context)

I assume that you, Justin, and others here use in-ears when playing live and I'm curious that you're hearing if using multiple signals. IYO, if I have a DI and a miced cab, but no option of blending the 2 signals to my in-ears, which would be the better option of hearing? I've tried both and seem to like the mic better, even a crappy one- more responsive

Here's another question. I was thinking today, if there were a situation where the FOH sound person refused to mic a cab, there was no mic available, no channel available, etc etc, what the possibility of having a small mixer and running a miced cab and DI through it, then blending the 2 before the signal goes to FOH..... any technical problems with this?

I'm sure this has been considered before and though it's ideal to have two or more signals going FOH seperately, I just thought I'd throw it out there for criticism

I don't use in-ears currently, except with my brief series of dates with Dixie Chicks.

My problem with your concept of pre-mixing bass from the stage is that you'll never know how your blend sounds interacting with the room dynamics and many thousands of watts of PA. You can do it, and people constantly do it, with keyboards. But bass is very deeply dependent on room interaction. I think your FOH guy might be a little bummed not having that control.

yeah, I see what you mean. I was thinking only worse case scenario, not anything on a regular basis. Unfortunately, in my case it's difficult to know what the backline will be, if any, and so I wind up going direct anyway. Really, the idea just popped in my head earlier today so I thought I'd run it by you. Thanks for the quick reply
