In love with a cheap bass

I saved up for half a year to buy my fancy shmancy Scheter Stiletto 5, but now I basically only use it for slap and songs that I either need to play fast or bright on. Anything else I play with my Fender MIM P-Bass that I got for $150 from some guy on craigslist. I'm looking to upgrade the pups and replace the electronics on that thing soon.
I'm really impressed with the Squire P bass I picked up to be a backup recently. It sounds great and gets the job done. I'll probably eventually replace the bridge, but for now it has made me a believer!
Ive got a Marcus Miller and a Spector Euro and yet I keep taking this SX fretless off the wall to play. I just love everything about it.

Price is just a measure of what one has to spend to acquire something they want. From just about every pic posted so far, there are some beautiful basses on there, and by the sound of it some pretty satisfied players as well. Congrats on your good fortune!
i sold a lakland skyline JO and bought an SX 70's reissue. no pics yet, but its the natural ash, maple neck, black blocs and binding, tort guard...with ashtrays.....love it love it love it! i plan on replacing the pickups and buying a badass bridge but it will still be under 400.

I have basses from $175 to $1800. I tend to play my Squire P bass as much as any of the others. It's not about money. I love my Spector NS2 the most, but I play the Squire and my Ibanez SD400QM the most. Bass snobs are the only ones that will even notice, so who cares?
My Dean Metalman V is still my workhorse. Paid $50 for it at GC (someone made a mistake on pricing during one of those holiday sales), added a $50 EMG 40DC, and straplocks cost me $20.
Hot. That metallic pea green is one of my favorite paint colors. I've refinished a couple of guitars in that. Nice.

I think the Gotoh bridges work great. I have one on my mim jazz and I just ordered one for my mia jazz.
I've got this Squier Affinity P that when purchased was essentially dead and useless. Spent a few months resurrecting the cheap ho w/new electronics, bridge, pickguard & a setup and what a difference. I initially did the rehab/mods just to turn around & sell it, but it's been 4 months since I finished and I've been playing it every day. Great tone and a killer neck with zero fret issues. It's really strange since I've considered myself as strictly a 5er user for quite some time. It'll never replace the 5ers but I never really spent any time at length with a P bass and I'm so into the tone. I'll bring myself to sell it soon but now I'm convinced I need a 5 string P real bad. And it took a bargain basement Squier for me to realize that. I also own a Squier Active Deluxe Jazz V that is in my estimation King of all low budget basses.
Bought it at Monty's music in Phoenix,AZ. Super small shop that I like to try to support.
