In need of a padded strap

Of anything available today, I'll add another vote for the Levy's padded straps. I got one for my Ric 4003, and it's definitely helpful.

Padded straps never worked for me, and frankly I dont find them that comfortable; often material is too slick and slippery. In the end I bought an Italia strap here in the classifieds and never looked back . (4 inch wide). The same one strap goes on all my basses. It ' grows' into your body shape like a good shoe and is super comfy. Not cheap but totally worth it. Also, they regularly have a 2-for-1 sale, so you can sell the other 4 Inch Wide Guitar Straps and Bass Straps

Look for Mono "Betty" strap.

I bought one of these back in like June, and fell in love with it. It's now the only strap that I use.

Much in the same way you haven't liked padded straps, I've never been a fan of the leather ones. Just didn't like the styling of them, maybe too country? Whatever the reason, just don't like them.

I have one of these on each of the straps for my two Musicmasters. In much the same way you said these "fit" you line a good shoe I've thought they were very comfortable. In order to keep them in place and avoid the strap sliding through them I put a safety pin through the strap and pad covering before I velcro them down. They've been great I'm just looking for options in case they aren't enough after the surgery, which is 11/21/19.

IME, width is more important than padding. Minimum 3" strap. For a 10lber, I'd go for 4...

I've got this one on a few of my basses. Cheap, solid, comfy, looks fine, although not flashy at all...

I am in need of a padded strap I have a 10 lbs Warwick 5 string Jazzman bass and it is killing my back! The strap I have a a cheapie Ernie Ball nylon strap.

I was hoping to by on of Scott Bass's One Strap. I like the leather, padding, more importantly, the no give it has. Sadly, the store is closed. Do you guys have any suggestions for strap like Scott's that I could purchase. I would prefer it to be a bit longer. I don't want the bass to sit too high. I am bassist for a rock/melodic metal band. Got to keep up appearances.... lol

Really depends on how much you want to spend, and how big of a hurry you are in. I just had a great experience from an Ecuadorian company specializing in custom leather straps, whatever width or length, or design you want! Takes about 2-3 weeks depending on what you order, and you will receive regular updates and photos, and have input throughout the process. I got mine a few days ago, and it is beautiful, very well made from top quality leathers. No, I don’t work for them, but I am a very satisfied customer! Here’s a picture:

I'm with JimmyM here... the ultimate solution is a light weight bass.

I have a 4" padded leather strap, it helps when I play my Fender Jazz which weighs10.23lbs and it stays on my Jazz bass, but the wider strap only distribute the weight on your shoulder, it doesn't make it lighter... in fact a leather strap is not light and that adds to the total weight you have to carry.

I never use it on my Ibanez which is really light... because why buy a light weight bass if later on I use a heavy strap which only add to the weight.

So, if the problem is your back, and not your shoulder, than you need to consider a lighter weight bass... IMO of course.
