Thank you to the OP for starting this thread. After posting my expensive basses and my budget bass in the 'other' thread I've run out of basses to post. Now my medium priced instruments won't feel like orphans. It's time to take some new pics.

95 MIA Pbass and a recently drefretted 60's EBO, which was/is a 65.00 beater. Not to besmerch the owners of highendy basses, because I may one day own one, but medium priced basses are the working tool for the majority of players.

I go for inexpensive and medium priced basses, according to the listed definitions. Unless we count the labour on the two home built models I have.

Yamaha RBXJM2/John Myung Signature 2 bass guitar. We can shut down Talkbass now - this is the perfect playing bass. OK - maybe not, but it is perfect for ME, my music, my technique, my practice habits, my goals... everything.

I love the 16.5mm string spacing (I don't slap); the monstrously huge Seymour Duncan SMB-6a active pickup, powerful three-band preamp, incredible neck with perfect setup (lower than you can imagine with zero fretbuzz, no dead spots, no intonation issues, and it is beautiful - TOTALLY unique without being gimmicky, cheap looking or flashy, it has a gorgeous color(s) depending on the light, the pearl plum metallic is either dark purple to a pale slightly-metallic pink. This bass has fabulous contoured lines. I even love the headstock. It is perfect (well, it could only be improved upon with the "infinity" fingerboard inlays of the RBXJM, but that's it!)

It never gets in the way of my playing, it's so fast I have to pull back a bit in places, takes very little effort to produce massive drummer crushing tone, and when I dig in it gets nasty, growling and snarling.

It is a medium-priced bass ($750 used) so I'm posting it here.

I would consider medium priced anywhere from $400 to $1000. There are some great instruments to be had in that range. My U.S. S.U.B. is one of my favorite basses, it is one of my favorite basses.

I agree with the $750-1500 definition of "medium-priced."

I love my medium-priced short scale Warmoth P-Bass. Why? Because I specced it, I built it, no one else has one like it and the marketplace didn't provide anything like it for the price.
