Thanks Timmah and Jimmy. I think the PF350 + MicroVR cab will be a good upgrade for a practice amp that I can then extend further if I ever start playing out.

In praise of practice amps

I just got done practicing on my PF350 through a 210av this morning. Great little set up. I also bring them to a small blues jam every now and then and they can hang with the drummer and guitars on small amps. I have a second 210 for moar power, but haven't used both 210's very much.
In the last year I've bought an Ampeg BA-115 and Markbass players school combos and really like them both,the days of dragging my old Acoustic370 and 2X15"EV cabinet around are over.Both have good sound and seem very high quality.I got the Ampeg first and to be honest it's heavier than I want to drag around anymore at 59 years old w/a bad shoulder(altho it's probably about the same weight as just my old Acoustic head!).I've been leaving it at church where I use it in the worship band to avoid hauling it and using the Markbass at home to learn new material with.So far the Ampeg's been able to keep up with the drummer volume wise with 100watts but it's nice to know I could swap them and w/the Markbass I could drive another 8ohm cab and go from 150watts to 250watts.The Markbass is so much lighter it's amazing,20-30 years ago it wouldn't mattered but at this stage of life weight's becoming more important.
I give GarageBand a try as well. I had it installed but with the small SSD on my Air I wound up deleting it.
I have a little Ampeg BA108. I LOVE it. Sounds excellent to my ears. Definitely pulls an Ampeg vibe. I keep it in the living room, much to my wife's chagrin.
I don't gig any more but if I did and for the random jams with my buddies I have an Ampeg PF-500 and a GK 410 RBS.
