In praise of Warwick Gnome

I know it’s been talked about a fair bit here (including by me) but this surely has to be one of the best value rigs going right now:

300w Warwick Gnome iPro V2 through matched Warwick 300w 210 cab.

I’ve had mine for maybe five years now but am STILL amazed at the performance and construction of this thing. It just doesn’t seem possible to get this quality for this price.

Anyway, if anyone’s currently in the market for a low cost outfit that kicks serious ass l’d say definitely consider this one.

I like the thin finish on your bass.

It’s interesting to note that Warwick comes from Framus heritage. It’s the same family, Wilfer. Framus is owned by Warwick, they restarted Framus. They recently reissued a rare and famous John Lennon acoustic at a very affordable price.

I bought the non pro 200W version about 4 years ago for silly money (about £90 if I remember correctly) mostly as a backup or for low volume band call rehearsals, but I have to agree, it's a really great amp for so little. It doesn't really look budget, and it sounds a lot better than I think it has any right to be.

I actually have both the Gnome Micro 200 and the Gnome 600 and very pleased with both. The Gnome Micro stays in my car as a backup. But I do use it every now and then at duo gigs or lower volume gigs and works great. The Gnome 600 I got mainly as higher power backup for my 900W Genz Benz amp. I also use it once and a while. Definitely both are built like tanks. What I don't like about the 600 is it's heavier than my Genz Benz and on a dark stage the blue LEDs in the panel are too bright!

I picked up a Gnome iPro v1 a year ago on clearance. It's just a great sounding amp.
I did quite a few smaller gigs with it last summer, and liked it so much I picked up the Gnome 600 on a whim.
(I actually prefer the 3 band eq on the iPro over the 4-band)

I take the iPro with me whether I using it or not - just slides under the seat of my car (in an Amazon case).

The cabinets seem difficult to find in the US though - not that I need another cab....

I know this is an old thread....but I just picked up a gnome 600 on the cheap and was going to just use it for power with my board since it was so reasonable ...but I actually like it a lot.....so does anyone have experience with the cabs ...like the 4x8..or 115.....if they can get deep I would be interested.....I am pleasantly surprised by the head and would get the cabs if they are decent ...there aren't any around to try local.
