Correct me if I am wrong Fender historians, but wasn't it common for Fender to mix old and new bodies and necks? You may have a late 62/early 63 model with a 63 neck and a 62 body.



It could also be a typo. After all, it isn't like those two keys are next to each other or anything . And keep in mind, this is the same website that had the neck pup for the Geddy Lee listed as a P pup.

August 62 they changed to veneer.

So if you go by a year then 63 is indeed the first full year of veneer rosewood board.

Fender are therefore correct.
