incense!!!

Well heck... I haven't burned incense for years - my wife can't stand the stuff. But when I go hang with my project band buddies the fumes are plentiful. I find the softer, vanilla/coconut flavored ones to be quit nice. I do remember loving sandalwood. I must find out more about this nag champa I have been hearing so many good things about.

Incense is just noise to me. I like smells, but I don't like smells that stick around and hang in the air, which is kind of the point of incense. I'd rather be able to smell any new smells that arrive than mask them. It's the same as noisy fans or something to me. I like the sound of fans fine, but I don't want to cover up all the interesting quiet noises that are also occuring. The same goes for my nose.

Nag champa is lovely. A former drummer of mine, who also played for a Bollywood group, turned me on to it. I don't like anything too sweet, and Nag is more spicy/woody. Its like, everything lovely and sensual about India and its culture, in a nice little stick. :-)

HEB carries a real nice one, that is not too heavy, and that burns well, not too quickly.

Had a friend who just hated incense, but when I burned Opium incense for him, well, he just fell in love with it, and had his wife buy a bunch. Terry made it. Who is Terry?

If you ever get down by Austin, go to the 290 Flea Market, and find Terry, The Incense Guy. He is Ethiopian, learned to make incense by hand from his grandma, and makes *beautiful* stuff. He's been around for years, and you don't stick around selling incense for 20 years unless you make good stuff and have people buying it like crazy. :-)

Cherie :-)
