Meanwhile, the bass seems to have an extraneous noise factor that is on par with still string acoustic guitars.
Often, it's nice to avoid extra noise, especially when it comes to quieter songs or times where the bass needs to be in the background. Other times, a bit of clang and clack can really make the bass sound cool.
Besides "depends on what the song calls for", do you intentionally embrace the noise, live with the unintentional noise that comes from not so perfect technique, or do you seek to have really clean sounding notes?
