    Hey Justin,

If you could list a handful of individual tracks you've played on that you feel is your best work, what would they be?

Let's see, if I had to pick some things out that I think I did pretty well on:

Beck: "End Of The Day", "Tropicalia", "Sexx Laws", etc. Ima Robot "Dynamite", "12=3". Tegan & Sara "Drove Me Wild", M83 "Raconte-Moi Une Histoire", most of the stuff on Blood Orange "Coastal Grooves", Goldfrapp "Seventh Tree" songs, a song I did on the Classixx album I forgot the name, some of the upright stuff I did with Daniel Martin Moore on "Stray Age", Ladytron stuff on "Velocifero" and "Light and Magic", a Tori Amos song called "Cruel",

Oh - and a Marianne Faithful song called "Sex With Strangers". I'm very happy with how that came out. And Air "Don't Be Light".

    Damn, that's a good list.

Has this list changed at all in the past 4ish years?

Thanks....yeah, I'm super happy with my bass playing on M83 Junk and on Paramore After Laughter. And on some new Beck poopie that no one's heard yet.

Do you remember what your setup was like for the Tegan & Sara songs?

Drove Me Wild was my seldom used Yamaha BB2024 through a B15...other stuff was Guild Starfire.

You also used that bass with NIN if that's the same Yamaha I'm thinking of, correct?

That's quite the tone, I figured you had a VT Bass or something in the mix.

Tropicalia is all upright, it's just an old Kay/Englehart bass. No pickups, mics only, I think it was a C12A and a Fet 47.

Not sure what your opinion of it is, but I've always thought your bass part on God Given was really really good. Very funky.

I was going to ask about/mention that. It's an amazing bass line.

Remember the setup from here? Is the Jag stock? Sounds great!
    Thanks for the previous reply

    I'm not JMJ, but...

He had a Badass II bridge on the Jaguar (preamp not used), D'Addario rounds, SansAmp PSA 1.1 was a big part of his NIN sound, and effects-wise I'd say God Given was the VT Bass.

Thanks - yeah I'm proud of that God Given bass part. We stumbled across that arrangement in rehearsal by just jamming a bit, everyone added something new. Trent's guitar poopie with the piezo pickup sound is so sick. Was cool to give that one a unique live shape. Can't overstate how much I love Trent's YZ stuff. Gear-wise all I can remember is Jaguar bass (not stock - I ripped out all the active EQ), PSA1.1 with no pedals, I think. Maybe VT Bass, dunno.
