Indonesian Squier VM or Korean SquierII?

For similar money - which would you guys buy:
A Vintage Modified Squier Precision made in Indonesia
or
A Korean SquierII Precision

Just looking at pros and cons for both, might be picking up a third bass (then unloading my second) this week.

get your hands on both if possible.
i have owned both, i really enjoyed my squier ii when i had it.
if you go with that, dont mod it like i did.
i regretted it, should have left it alone.

Korean Squier II - half the price, equal the sound.

I would buy neither and save up for a USA bass.

Those basses are contractually built by Cort Guitars for Fender overseas... do a quick youtube search about Cort and see what you find...

It's half the price of a new one, not used, but keep in mind a new one will be losing value and the Squier II won't be. If you pay $150 for the II and $300 for the VM - the VM will be worth about $150 used once you get it.

Not everyone cares about resale value. Especially when buying the cheper instruments like Squiers.
I know I didn't care about it when I bought my two VMs. All I cared about was whether I like the basses the way they sounded, looked, and played. Resale value is NEVER a consideration for me when I buy a bass or guitar. I always have the idea in my head (however misguided it may actually be) that if I like it, I will keep it forever. If at some point, I sell something for whatever reason, I'll take what I can reasonably expect to get for it and be happy.

I would venture a guess that most of TB members who give in to GAS on a regular basis, after so many repeated cycles of selling in order to be able to afford the next purchase, are not like that. The resale value is important.

It probably doesn't matter to those who get GAS and can afford to just keep buying without selling. Or who always buy new.

To be happy selling something at a loss (even a massive loss) because it's what you can reasonably expect to get for it is probably not a common quality to have.

"Don't worry, be happy" is great if you can afford it!

New white vintage modifieds list for $279. You can get them used here for $189. I've seen them for $89 used. So the original question of similar priced basses may have one response if you care about resale value when you're paying $249 for the Squier II vs $279 for the VM P. You're right - if one is to be kept forever price is irrelevent. But every used bass you see is one that wasn't kept forever.
