Inexpensive impedance matching device

Just for my own confusion, :sour: , I checked the MB website, and the Markbass input spec is 500k ohm maximum.
Probably neither here nor there....
Yep some Markbass heads have an input impedance of 1MOhm and others have lowers values.

The term impedance matching is misleading since there is no need to have the same impedance but the destination should have in principle a greater impedance than the source. Since you're coming out from a pre I guess that 500KOhm should be more than enough.

I don't think there's any impedance issue in your setup.

What is your outboard pre?
A Radial BassBone OD, one channel of it has the high z input that my piezo needs. If your onboard pre is anything like the one linked above I doubt it is an impedance issue and it seems to incorporate all the features of a good outboard pre. I think I would go through the trim pots one at a time to understand how they work. They may not all work the way one would think and you may have maxed the low cut, minimized the high cut and maxed the pu gains. Also there appears to be a notch filter, maybe that is boosted instead of cut. Counter clockwise might not be the lowest value. It looks like that bass was designed with a lot of features to make it sound good.

It has a preamp. The output impedance of the preamp and input impedance of the amp is not the problem. The OP needs to understand the low cut, high cut, and mid notch trims and adjust them appropriately. That may help quite a bit.
This is what i have done. And i have ended up with what i think is a good sound, by making the adjustments while having the bass plugged into a live amp to hear what each trimpot’s effect on the sound was.
Edit:I linked an icloud video demo i did a few days ago.
I’m not sure if the format plays for everbody or just for apple users....

Today i tried turning the amp input gain down as low as it would go,and brought it back up to about halfway to where I normally have it.
Also looked at the ART Phatboy multifx pedal i was using, and adjusted input gain and compressor level controls down about 25%.
All of this seems to have had the desired outcome. :hyper:
Now i can even boost the midrange and bass controls on the bass without causing distortion.
