hehe, still working on that department, yet I've radically reduced the amount of cigarrettes per day by smoking roll-your-own tobacco, funny thing is that now standard cigarrette brands like Marlboro or Luckies pretty much make me nausea these days :hmm: Well, enough with the off-topic...

Cigs and the coffee mixure used to mess with my right and left hand sync'ing up on challenging gigs... horrible mixure in the studio for me, too. I can't tell you how great it feels to have quit.



I really dig the new knob layout on the GT's:

My GT-5 is the newer version with that layout. It has Bart MK-1's. It's a 3 band eq with an active/passive switch. It sounds great, but mine got way noisy about a year and a half ago. Dunno why. I figured it was time, so I swapped it all out for an OBP-3. Now it sounds even better :D

For the $$$, the GT series are really great instruments.... If not for that damn *tight* string spacing, that is. Nice tops, Wenge and Purpleheart laminate necks, Neutrik jack, SOLID construction. I just love 'em.

for the money... he he he, it's probably the only money I could afford to plop down on a Conk.


Glad to hear that you like the Aggie OBP-3. I love it too... I swapped the pre out of my Warrior for that one and I had OBP-1's installed in both of my 4'ers.

I do love that pre. My custom fretted has the same one.

Hey, how do you like the Warrior? I've seen a few come and go on e-Bay that I've been damn close to grabbing (before the Conklins..... Now I can't afford food :D). They look like awesome instruements.

Hey Oversoul, the slap switch is just a mid scoop. There's also a level out. Both are adjusted outside of the control cavity cover with a little screwdriver. Adjustments didn't help my situation at all. I was just gonna to rid myself of all that and see if it would have fixed it, but it's a wiring MESS inside there. Everything was tied together. So I just gutted it and started over.

Worked out well. And I had room for the extra battery. 18 volts now. :)

man... i'll have to PM you, RE: the Warrior "?"...(in short)tons of work needed to make a 'lightly' used Warrior 5'er a great work horse.


Other than that, if the custom Conk's mean 'no-food'... I'm not sure I could do that... I quit smoking a while back and food is damn important to me now!

Hahahaha. Understood. I've never smoked and food is STILL damn important to me :)

Not necessary on the PM, although it would be good reads. As I said, I'm not in the market at this time. Wish I was. Thanks a ton for the info though.

-Thats whats cool with the new config, If I recall Mark Beem had a GT-7 and to fit a new preamp she had to be routed, details Mark?

-Hey J-raj, dont over eat because of smokes man, I dont quite know if its a good recomendation, but have you tried to walk around with some chewing gum to distract yourself from the habit? Just dont exagerate or you'll get a stomach ulcer instead :ninja:

The routing was because I wanted to make it 18v instead of 9v on the Aguilar pre I had put in... No, if you were to replace the Mighty Mite pre with another brand and only went 9v, there'd be no routing needed.

However, were I to do it over again I'd opt for a pre-wired preamp such as a Duncan or a Demeter just because it would be that much easier...

Conklin's old website had more descriptions for the basses on there. Too bad he changed the layout. Those pages are still up, just not linked anywhere..... If I can find the links, I'll post them here so you can see what I mean.

And THAT bass went on e-Bay about 6 months ago. If I remember correctly, it went for $1,500. I was OH SO CLOSE!!!
