Information on CLF Research L-2500

I keep seeing posts mentioning CLF Research L-2500 and people changing custom orders over to the new product. However I cannot find any information regarding CLF L-2500. What’s the scoop? What’s the difference between that and normal G&L L-2500 USA?

I just purchased a CLF L-1000 and love it. I’m been keeping my eyes open for a L-2500. I’m hoping to find that same love in a CLF L-2500.

As far as I can put together, this is part of G&L's new product launches including the Matador bass. My guess is that they are doing the initial builds so that there is some stock before putting out the marketing info. I just happened to stumble upon it because of the G&L Club thread posts. So I made queries with my local vendor and was able to get my order updated.

This is all speculation, other than that Arbutus Music in Nanaimo, BC Canada was able to confirm that my order has changed to the CLF Research version of the L-2500. I really wanted the metal control plate and no back cavities.

Ahhmmm...;)

I'm not certain if the original question was ever answered. What is the difference between the new CLF Research L-2500 bass and the regular USA L-2500? As far as I can tell, it's only cosmetic with the CLF looking more like an early G&L reissue. Is there more to it than that? And please, no links to meandering paragraphs of text. Just let us know the differences if there are any.

Thanks!

You are correct cosmetics and color choices.

Can I or do I get the single coil mode with a clf l2500 from the factory?
The default is to have Series/Parallel only. But when ordering a custom instrument you can add the option of Single Coil.

The alternative is to modify the bass after the fact with a three way switch. Someone more knowledgeable than me could point you to the wiring diagram.
